Design and Build Quality

Alienware Aurora ACT1250 design

Alienware designs the Aurora ACT1250 with a sleek and modern case. The chassis looks premium compared with many gaming prebuilts in the same price range. The system includes subtle RGB lighting and a compact tower layout. Cable routing inside the system looks clean and organized.

Connectivity is an important factor for gaming PCs. The Aurora ACT1250 includes a balanced selection of ports for peripherals, accessories, and storage devices.

Front I/O includes:

  • One 3.5mm audio jack
  • Two USB-A 3.2 ports
  • One USB-C 3.2 port

Rear connectivity expands further:

  • USB4 Type-C port
  • USB-C 3.2 port
  • Two USB-A 3.2 ports
  • Two USB-A 2.0 ports
  • Ethernet port Audio line-in and line-out

Internal Hardware and Upgrade Options

internal hardware aurora act1250

Dell uses a proprietary motherboard layout inside the Aurora ACT1250. The board follows Dell’s custom design rather than a standard ATX format.

The Alienware Aurora ACT1250 features a Intel Ultra 7 265F 20-core CPU with a boost clock speed up to 5.5GHz. There is an RTX 5070 16GB GDDR7 graphics card installed on this machine. Both the high-end CPU and GPU deliver optimal gaming performance while making this machine future-proof for upcming titles.

The system includes 32GB DDR5 memory installed as two 16GB modules. The motherboard provides only two RAM slots, which means upgrades require replacing the current modules rather than adding more. Maximum supported memory reaches 64GB DDR5, which remains sufficient for gaming, editing workloads, and streaming.

Storage upgrades remain simple. The motherboard includes three PCIe Gen5 slots, and additional NVMe drives install easily. Storage upgrades often become necessary because modern games use large install sizes.

Dell installs a 1000W proprietary power supply, which offers strong headroom for future GPU upgrades. Although the power supply uses Dell-specific connectors, its power output exceeds the requirements of most gaming GPUs currently available.

Cooling & Thermals

CPU Cooler on ACT1250 Alienware

Cooling inside the Aurora ACT1250 focuses more on GPU airflow than CPU cooling. The PC chassis on this gaming machine uses a rear exhaust fan and quiet system fans. At idle, the desktop remains almost silent. During gaming loads, fan noise increases slightly yet remains comfortable.

The GPU cooler performs very well. During extended gaming sessions, GPU temperatures remain around 60–63°C, which indicates efficient heat dissipation.

The CPU cooler represents the main weakness. Dell installs a small stock cooler that struggles under heavy CPU workloads. The Intel Ultra 7 265F processor performs well but the stock cooler restricts its boost behavior.

During stress tests, the CPU quickly drops power levels due to thermal limits. This behavior reduces sustained performance.

I replaced the stock cooler a Deepcool AK620 air CPU cooler. Installation required no motherboard removal.

The CPU cooler upgrade produced major improvements:

  • CPU temperatures dropped significantly

  • Sustained power levels increased

  • Benchmark scores improved by roughly 50%

  • Fan noise decreased slightly

This small upgrade transformed the thermal management system from average to excellent in thermal. You can try this if you want to get rid of stock cooler on Alienware Aurora ACT1250.

Noise Levels

The Aurora ACT1250 gaming  is one of the quietest gaming PCs I’ve reviewed in past years. I always confess that Dell PC chassis dampen the internal noise to an exceptional level.

During idle usage, the system produces very little noise. Even during gaming sessions, the fan sound remains relatively subtle.

Many high-performance gaming PCs produce noticeable fan noise, so the Aurora ACT1250 performs well in this area.

Gaming Performance

The Alienware Aurora ACT1250 delivers solid 1440p gaming performance in AAA and eSports games.

CyberPunk 2077 FPS
60FPS
COD MW3 FPS
500+FPS
Fortnite FPS
300FPS

Valorant places minimal load on modern GPUs. During testing the game at 1440p high settings, the system reached 500+ FPS. But make sure you have a higher refresh rate gaming monitor for an immersive experience at higher FPS.

Counter-Strike 2 runs extremely well on this system. Testing at 1440p high settings produced roughly 300 FPS average

Cyber Punk 2077 remain the most demanding game to test the patience of any gaming machine. However, the Alienware Aurora ACT1250 produced around 60 FPS average at 1440p. The RTX 5070 handles the game well, though ray tracing workloads push the GPU close to its limits.

Wireless Connectivity

The Aurora ACT1250 includes Wi-Fi 7, which represents the newest generation of wireless networking technology. During testing, the wireless connection delivered stable speeds even when the router sat in another room. For gamers who prefer wired networking, the Ethernet port provides reliable low-latency connectivity.

Pricing

The Aurora ACT1250 usually sells between $1600 to $1,900 depending on configuration and promotions. Some competing prebuilts gaming PC brands offer similar performance for slightly lower prices. For example, systems using Intel i7-14700F with RTX 5070 deliver comparable frame rates.

However, Alienware provides the following advantages:

  • Premium design

  • Better GPU cooling

  • Powerful Intel Ultra platform

Recent instability issues affected some 13th and 14th generation Intel processors. The Ultra 7 265F platform avoids those concerns and offers exceptional gaming performance at a competitive price.

Should You Buy Alienware Aurora ACT1250 Gaming PC?

After extensive testing, the Alienware Aurora ACT1250 proves to be a capable gaming desktop. The combination of an Intel Ultra 7 processor, RTX 5070 graphics card, and 32GB DDR5 memory delivers strong performance across modern games.

Competitive esports titles run effortlessly at extremely high frame rates, while demanding AAA games remain playable at high settings.

The system’s biggest strengths include quiet operation, strong GPU cooling, and attractive design. Alienware’s compact chassis manages to house powerful hardware without excessive noise or heat.

However, the system is not perfect. The stock CPU cooler limits sustained processor performance, and proprietary components restrict upgrade flexibility.

Even with those drawbacks, the Aurora ACT1250 remains a solid choice for gamers who want a premium prebuilt gaming PC that works out of the box.

For buyers who value convenience, design quality, and reliable performance, the Aurora ACT1250 stands as a strong option in the high-end prebuilt gaming PC market.
